Changing Your Internet Explorer Homepage on Your Windows RT Surface Tablet

We will show you how to update the settings in Internet Explorer so that you can display your homepage when you open the browser. These instructions are specifically for Internet Explorer on the Surface Tablet that is running Windows RT. Only the Surface 1 and Surface 2 tablets use the Windows RT operating system. Windows RT is a more limited version of Windows.

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer On Your Microsoft Surface Tablet

Go to your desktop and open the Internet Explorer desktop browser.

Open Internet Explorer

NOTE The IE desktop browser is different than the IE metro browser. You can tell the difference since the IE desktop browser will look like a browser on any Windows computer. The IE metro browser will look like a browser designed for your tablet or phone.

Step 2: Click on the Gears Icon to See Your Browser Settings

Once your Internet Explorer browser is open, click on the settings icon near the top right of your browser window. The setting icon looks like a gear.

Click on Gears Icon

Step 3: Select Internet Options

In the menu, select "Internet Options".

Select Internet Options

Step 4: Type in Your Homepage Address Under the Home Page Section

In the Internet Options window, there is a "Home page" section where you can type in your homepage URLs. Once you are done, click on the "OK" button to save your changes. Now your custom homepage has been set. You can always go back and change these settings in the future. In the meantime, close and re-open your browser to make sure the changes you made have been applied.
